  6. This is an easy2use program, which means not many functions but usable ones.
  7.  
  8. Before you start assign a `BASE-CD:` to an empty directory.
  9.  
  10.                                     Scannen
  11.                                    ---------
  12.  
  13. Enter the name of the CD-Device (or your HD) in the DEVICE-gadget and press
  14. SCAN to scan. You will be informed about the name of the device.
  15. The files will be shown in the upper right string-gadget.
  16.  
  17. Set ENV/CD-Finder.dat to $00000000 to gain a few secs while scanning.
  18.  
  19. The upper progressgadget shows the functionprogress in percent and the lower
  20. one counts all entries . A full gadget means 1000 files!
  21. After scanning CD-Finder will crunch the names with a algo that can compress
  22. the data up to 90%, but thats not normal. Take 30-50% as a normal value.
  23. It depends much on the CD, I have had 10% crunching rate on one CD.

  32. Enter the CD with the defectiv files and select the one witch is defectiv to
  33. delete it from the CD-Index-File.

  40. Enter the searchpattern at TEXT. CD-Finder will change your pattern like this:

  44. While hunting your file the upper progressgadget will show the percentage of
  45. all CD`s and the lower will again count the entries by 1000 a full gadget.

  47. Please use KingKong-Shell to gain a `SAVE-output-Option` or use STDIO to a
  48. file.

  53. Copies the selected Index-file to Base-CD: and cruch it if possible.
  54. If you select "Aminet_name.doc" from Aminet-CD you will get a fully
  55. converted catalog.

  62. Choose an Indexfile. It will be displayed via Datatypes with virtuell
  63. scrolling.

  68. This function will display all important information about this Index.

  74. Choose an Indexfile which you want to see in 3D. CD-Finder will inform
  75. 3D-Astro to display it if it runs as backgroundtask. To use it seperate
  76. enter a destination filename.

  78. Use the command "LOAD=FILENAME" in 3D-Astro to load the file.

  81.                                    Exportieren

  85. The most usefull function is to export your data into several other databases
  86. like TurboCalc or Exel. CD-Finder can export it into 6 other forms. 
  87. "LOTUS 1-2-3" is not yet supported. The destination form "Nur Text" means 
  88. "ASCII Only" , lets say you copy the decrunched catalog to another file.

  90. At first choose the files, use the arrows to select and deselect it.

  92. The Output-Cycle-Gadget chooses the virtual Devices like KCON: PIPE: PRT:
  93. and FILE: . If you selected "File:" you can enter a filename to the right
  94. or REQuest it.

  96. Press Export and it will start. The progressindicator shows the progress in
  97. percent for each file.

  103. "Suche in einem File" means "Search in one file only" and will pop up a 
  104. filerequester when you activate the search gadget.

  106. "Anzeige beim Scannen" aktivates the displaymode while scanning.
